With a simple message, Mandela Day was inspired by a call the late former President Nelson Mandela made for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership. Take action and inspire change, a simple message giving each individual the responsibility and ability to change the world for the better.
This year, for Mandela Day, Melrose Arch is partnering up with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and CANSA in support of this initiative by having a blood drive at Melrose Arch, from 10.00 – 16.00 at Stanlib, 17 Melrose Boulevard. Give 67 minutes of your time and make a difference by donating blood.
One of the simplest things you can do for somebody else, blood donation is something you can do every 56 days, and one donation can save up to three lives.
SANBS needs to collect 3000 units of blood nationally, per day, in order to meet the standard demands of patients. If you are between the ages of 16-65 years old; weigh more than 50kgs; have eaten a good meal before donating and lead a sexually safe lifestyle; you can become a donor.
Don’t let life get in the way of life, your blood saves lives.
