Green Thinking

Melrose Arch’s switched on cost and energy saving initiatives have been recognised through the award of South Africa’s first Green Star Multi Unit Residential certification, for our new residential development Forty on Oak.

The award recognises Melrose Arch’s sustainable development approach emphasising the development of environments principally built on “Green Design” essentials.

Energy Efficient & Sustainable Development

Green Thinking at Melrose Arch

Sustainable initiatives include natural cross ventilation, grey water recycling, high performance glazing and an impressive level of recycled material content. These initiatives are further enhanced by the ability to tap into the broader precinct services to deliver an integrated building management system and high-end technology plus automation to each apartment.

Beneath the roots of the precinct, 4633 energy-efficient basement lights work by dimming when motion is not detected and ramp up to 100% when motion is detected. In areas that receive daylight, the daylight harvesting feature results in further energy savings.

Measurable outcomes support sustainable practices throughout the precinct to provide significant energy and cost-saving benefits.
