New Restaurants

Mr George

The eagerly awaited Mr George has opened its doors! The emphasis at this eatery is on relaxation and taking time to savour one’s meal. The green décor, with its ample foliage, creates a calming atmosphere, encouraging diners to linger and enjoy the food, while outside, comfortable seating in booths inspires long, lazy lunches as you sip on a cocktail or prosecco, savour some sushi and watch the world go by.

Kitamu

Ex Moyo, Kitamu is a feast for the soul. The restaurant’s menu is wholly African, with dishes like Mozambican chicken, North African bread, ostrich steak, kudu skewers, crocodile pies, fried mopane worms and springbok shank pie to tantalise the taste buds. Maputo chicken curry is cooked pole pole (‘slowly, slowly’) as it is in the Mozambican capital to maximise the flavour, while the Hout Bay fish and chips will almost have diners believing they can smell the sea. The Moroccan slow-braised lamb shank can only be described as kitamu.

Rodizio

It’s been barely a month since Rodizio joined the Melrose Arch culinary fraternity and it’s grown into a popular lunch and dinner spot on The High Street. The restaurant offers an appetising and varied lunch and dinner menu which will include a range of tapas that have a Brazilian spicy flair; as well as burgers and traditional prego rolls and vegetarian dishes. All meals are prepared fresh daily.

Grind Greenery

With a fresh new look and a vegan eatery to boot, The Grind has evolved into so much more than just a coffee hangout. Take the spiral staircase to the Grind Greenery, a wood-finished bistro serving up freshly created, plant-based dishes that not only look good but taste the part too. Keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram pages to see what’s coming out of the kitchen at The Grind Greenery.

Tiger’s Milk

The intimate Melrose store still holds a rebellious presence like the other locations within the brands stable and has been highly anticipated by residents and businesses within the area as a new go-to lunch, dinner and after- work drinks spot. Known as the best destination for a killer grub and rocking vibe – you can expect a menu of mouthwatering burgers, handcrafted pizzas, succulent ribs and the best sharing platters around. Some must tries include the Amazeballs, the Moaning at Midnight and the Pepperoni Pizza – we guarantee that you’ll leave wanting more.
